Water Baptism is an outward sign of an inward expression of faith. This means that Baptism is not salvation, but is our first step in making a public confession of what Jesus has done in our lives. Baptism can follow any decision you've recently made for Christ; maybe you've given your life to Christ, or re-dedicated your life to Jesus, the best next step is baptism.
Baptism is symbolic of what Jesus has done in our lives. We go into an encounter with Jesus one way, and we come out totally different; saved, healed, and delivered. Similarly we go down into the water one way, and come out anew, all of the old washed away. Baptism is a biblical command from Jesus that we should both be baptized, and baptize others.
